Patrick E. Brown Scholarship in Art

The Patrick E. Brown Scholarship in Art was established by Patrick “Pat” E. Brown of Arlington, Texas. Patrick was born in Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from Richland High School in 1967. The summer after his graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served four years as a member of the Helicopter Combat Support Squadron I. Patrick transferred to SHSU from North Texas University in 1977 and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 1978. While at SHSU, Pat studied Composition, Applied Trombone, and Orchestration, in addition to playing lead trombone with the SHSU Jazz Ensemble. In the Spring of 1978, he took an art appreciation course at SHSU which set him on a path to becoming a studio artist in his own right, for which he is tremendously grateful.
