Charles W. Jones III and David E. Payne Violin Scholarship

Charles W. Jones attended SHSU and graduated with a B.B.A. in Finance in 1981. He is a lifetime member of the SHSU Alumni Association and serves on the Advisory Council for the College of Business Administration. Dr. Payne started his career in higher education after earning his Ph.D. in 1972. He and Mr. Jones sat together, and it was then that Dr. Payne expressed his enthusiasm for the preforming arts. He discussed the difficulty competing with other universities to attract the top high school violinist to SHSU. That conversation inspired Mr. Jones to establish this scholarship to attract and support those violinists.
