Billy A. Smith, Jr. Football Scholarship

The Billy A. Smith, Jr. Football Scholarship was established by Billy A. Smith, Sr. and Kathy L. Kellett Smith of Midway, Texas in honor of their son Billy Smith, Jr. Billy, Sr. received a football scholarship to attend Sam Houston State University where he played four years. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in General Business in 1979. Kathy L. Kellett Smith received her Bachelor of Arts in Teaching in 1978. Billy Smith, Jr. also graduated in 2004 with a BBA in General Business and Finances from SHSU and completed his Master of Business Administration in 2005. It is the Donors’ intent to provide funding for one annual scholarship award of $5,000 to be announced in the spring and disbursed the following academic year, half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
